30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 7

Day Seven: Your Dream Wedding

Just like most little girls, I've been dreaming about the day I get to wear a beautiful white dress and marry my prince since I was itty bitty. I grew up watching Father of the Bride and Cinderella and other sweet movies where the "princess" gets her "prince". I've been saving myself for the day that the Lord brings me and the boy He has for me together. I really love weddings, and I love daydreaming about my special day. Here are a few of my favorite pins that show my favorite wedding ideas.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 5

Day Five: How important do you think education is?

I clearly think education is pretty important, seeing that I'm studying to be a future educator. In the United States, we are super blessed to have the opportunity to get a "free" education and to even choose to have a private education or a Christian education. I think that lots of people take that for granted, and I know I have taken my education for granted plenty of times. I also think that education needs some reformation, but I still feel that education in whole is very important.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 3

Day Three: Your Idea of the Perfect First Date

I've always thought that going on a picnic in a park would be a great date. I just think it would be fun. Maybe add in a little time spent on swings on the playground, and I think I would enjoy that. As long as it was with a good guy of course!

Or we could just go to Target :)

Another idea that I think would be cute would be to go on a date where the guy teaches me something. Like if he's good at golfing, he could take me to the driving range. Anything where the guy feels in control and comfortable.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 2

Day Two: Your Favorite Movie.

My favorite movie, hmm. Again, I don't have a favorite. But, here are my top five favorite movies of all time:

  1. Little Women. This movie based off of the novel by Louisa May Alcott is one of the best movies of all time. I can quote almost every single line, and I'm not ashamed of that at all. Set in Concord, during and after the Civil War, it is a story of a four sisters and their adventures. I so love this movie. I might even watch it today.
  2. Anne of Green Gables. Sometimes I think I was born a century late. I love this story that is based off of the books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I love Anne Shirley, her kindred spirit, Diana Barry, and her one true love, Gilbert Blythe. My absolute favorite lines come from the second movie, Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel. Gilbert Blythe, "It'll be three years before I finish medical school. Even then there won't be any diamond sunbursts or marble halls." Anne Shirley, "I don't want diamond sunbursts or marble halls. I just want you." Ahh. Gets me every single time :)
  3. Remember the Titans. I love a "feel-good" type of story. Any emotional, based on real life type movies are always a yes for me. I especially love this one. Denzel Washington is a superb actor, and he does a phenomenal job in this movie. Yet another one that I can quote almost all the way through.
  4. 27 Dresses. Hilarious. I mean it is so funny. Definitely not your typical chick flick, happily ever after movie. Even though the end is a happy ending. Ah, I just love this movie.
  5. The Proposal. Another hilarious movie. So many funny lines. One of my favorites is this exchange between Margaret and Andrew. Margaret: "Who is Jillian? And why does she want me to call her?" Andrew: "Well, that was originally my cup." Margaret: "And I'm drinking your coffee why?" Andrew: "Because your coffee spilled." Margaret: "So you drink unsweetened cinnamon light soy lattes." Andrew: "I do. It's like Christmas in a cup." Margaret: "Is that a coincidence?" Andrew: "Incredibly, it is. I mean, I wouldn't possibly drink the same coffee that you drink just in case yours spilled, that would be pathetic." Watch this video to laugh a little bit.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 1

I'm doing another one of those blog challenges! Get excited!!

Day One: Your Favorite Song

I don't really have a "favorite song" per se, but I do have a few. I looked up on iTunes my most frequently played songs, and I figured those would be a good guesstimate of what my favorite songs are. Here are some of those plus some others that I just know are my favorites:

  • Nova by Hillsong United, album "Aftermath". Yes, definitely one of my favorite songs to listen to over and over again. Favorite part is the chorus: "Come, let Your glory arise and shine as the nations collide with Your story. Love overtaking our lives, arise as our hearts come alight with Your glory."
  • When You Love Someone by Bethany Dillon, album "Waking Up". This is just a cute little love song. Upbeat, makes you happy type of song. Have I mentioned that I met Bethany Dillon once? Such a sweet person!
  • The World is Ours Tonight by Gloriana, album "Gloriana". I was first introduced to this song toward the end of my senior year of high school, and the lyrics said everything that we (my group of friends) were all feeling as we were ending this chapter in life. Every time I hear it now, I think of that time in my life and smile.
  • Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons, album "Sigh No More". My favorite song by Mumford and Sons. So good. Best line? "In these bodies you will live, in these bodies you will die. Where you invest your love, you invest your life."

rainy thursday.

it's quite gross outside. all rainy and muggy and humid. ew. nasty. it's the type of day where all you want to do is sit in a big comfy chair covered up with a blanket with a cup of coffee next to you and a really good book in your hand. although, i'm sad to admit that i don't have any good books in my possession right now. yet, according to amazon.com, i'll be receiving three books on tuesday. hopefully they'll be good. they'll be good. i know they will.

so, what else to blog about on a rainy, nasty thursday? well, pinterest of course! but first, let me share some things that the Lord is teaching me right now. last friday at college group, we took part in the Lord's supper. we were encouraged to pray before we went up and got our cup of grape juice and little cracker. i didn't really have anything that i felt like i needed to "confess" to the Lord, so i just sort of prayed a generalized prayer, and i went up to the altar, got my juice and cracker, and came back to my seat at the table to take it in. i heard the Lord say, "put it down." so, i set my cracker and cup down on top of my Bible, and i just let the Lord speak to me. it was a really cool moment for me. the Lord's words were SO encouraging that night, things that i really needed to hear. i won't go into major detail right now, because even though there are like maybe three of you that read this, there are some crazy cool God things going on in my life right now that i can't share with you. i promise i will when i can though. this quote by John Piper really sums it all up: "God aims to exalt Himself by working for those who wait for Him."

in other news, school is CRAZY busy, my parents are driving me NUTS (but it's okay), and i'm really looking forward to watching Tangled this weekend with some friends. here are some pins, as of late:

Things that make me ha ha ha.

I l-o-v-e laughing. I mean, I just love a good laugh. Who doesn't? It makes me feel a lot better about myself in any situation, it helps me burn a few more calories, and it helps me have a better and more positive outlook on a lot of things. I hate to say that I don't laugh enough. I've always been the more "serious" one of most of my groups of friends, so I tend to be the one that doesn't laugh at stuff everyone else finds funny. I've been working on this over the past few years, and I think I've improved a little bit. Over the past few weeks, I've found a bunch of things to be super funny (mostly stuff people said), and I just have to share it with you.

A conversation that took place after Auburn lost to Clemson:

Matt: Um, you know Auburn lost today. Why are you wearing that Auburn shirt?
Me: I believe in Auburn, and I love it! (This is a typical Auburn slogan).
Matt: What is it, like Jesus?

When I was in Kentucky, I played this game with my cousins. At one point, this box type thing had to be clipped onto my cousin's pants. He looks at me and says, "Will you clip this to my pants but promise NOT to look at my underwear?"

This is probably my favorite episode from Parks and Rec.

Modern Family makes me laugh a lot as well, but not as much as Parks and Rec.

While we were driving to Kentucky, we enter into Tennessee.

Me: Yay, finally Tennessee!
Chelsea: Tennessee is so ugly.
Two minutes later...
Chelsea: Tennessee is SO pretty! Why can't Georgia be cool and pretty like this?!

After the wedding, a bunch of people taking lots of pictures:

Uncle Johnny: It looks like a Japanese tourist convention!

This video.

That's about all. Hope one of these things made you laugh too! :)

Today.

Today, I woke up with my sartorius muscles killing me (those are your inner thigh muscles). I worked them out on Thursday, and they hurt SO SO SO SO SO bad. Ugh.

Today, I had lunch at Yosko (one of the best Japanese places in Augusta) with my dear friend Maggie. I enjoyed catching up with her!

Today, I did four loads of laundry. Not even kidding. One load of towels, one load of sheets, one load of white clothes, and one load of darks. It was ridiculous.

Today, I watched Auburn play horribly (props to Clemson for playing exceptionally well). But, I still believe in Auburn, and I love it!

Today, I went to two different bookstores in search of a book, and neither of them had it. I was saddened that I couldn't get it, but I'll get it off of Amazon for sure.

Today, I got to hang out with Mary Beth. She's one of my favorite people ever. We spent a LOT of time together this summer, and I've missed her a lot!

Today, I was given a carnation by the guy at Chickfila. He was going to throw them away, and my friend asked if I could have it. I just love carnations!

Today, I skyped with my best friend for almost an hour. I ended my conversation with her by saying, "I've got to go blow up my bed."

I'm ending today by going to bed on an inflatable. I'm sleeping on an air mattress in my office. My room is a wreck, the office closet has my dad's clothes in it, and I can barely fit anything else into the fridge or pantry. These three weeks are going to be a LONG three weeks.

more pins.

Like I mentioned in my last post, I am just in love with Pinterest. I totally waste a bunch of time on Pinterest, but I really enjoy some of the things I find on there. Here are a few more of my favorite pins (as of late):

Love the mustard yellow cardigan.

What a great master bedroom.

Such a perfect idea for a party.

Amen. Amen.

Paris!

Dear future husband,
Please do this when we get married.
Love,
Your already grateful future wife.

Did I mention that my parents are moving in with me TONIGHT for 3 weeks while their house gets remodeled?!?! It's going to be a long 3 weeks for sure! 3 of us in 1 bathroom. Eek!

Have a lovely fall Saturday friends. Watch some football! (War Eagle, Hey!)

It's Friday!

I love Fridays for so many reasons:

1. NO CLASSES. By far the best decision I have ever made was to not have class on Fridays. I can sleep in (most of the time), and I don't have to rush to school. I love it!
2. An easy day at work. Not many people come in and work out on Fridays, so I'm able to get a lot more done than any other day.
3. College group. My church's college group has gone through some changes lately, and we have a new college pastor, who is really gifted! We meet on Friday nights, and I look forward to it every week! We're currently going through a series from The Church at Brook Hills, David Platt's church. I've actually already listened to the messages we're going through now, but I still really enjoy it.
4. It's a perfect day to listen to Mat Kearney. If you haven't heard of him, go check him out right now. His new album "Young Love" is one of my favorites ever!!!!
5. Time to waste on Pinterest. My new biggest distraction on the internet. Here are a few of my favorite pins:

Love this.

Think I may do this over the weekend.

Mmm. Looks SO good.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Yes. Please.

Hahahaha. This makes me laugh so much.

My prayer for my life.

Have a lovely weekend friends!

A Kentucky Wedding.

This past weekend, I went to Cadiz, Kentucky to be apart of my BD's wedding. My friend, Chelsea, came with me because it was such a LONG (9 hours) drive, and I was glad that I didn't have to do that by myself. The weekend flew by, and I'm so glad that I could be apart of it. It wasn't a typical, traditional wedding in anyway, but it was lots of fun.

Kenny and Kim got married in Cadiz (small, small, small town with very little cell phone reception) on Lake Barkley. It was SO beautiful. I really wasn't expecting it to be as pretty as it was. We explored the town of Cadiz and saw lots of beautiful, old Victorian homes, and LOTS of farmland. We also went to the next "town" over, Hopkinsville, and saw more of the same. Miles and miles of farmland. So pretty, but I could never live there.

On the way there, passing through Chattanooga.

Nine hours later, and we're here!
Woo-hoo, Kentucky!!

We all stayed in a HUGE lake house right on Lake Barkley.
They had the wedding in the backyard, with the lake behind us.
It was a beautiful day!

A country store on the side of the road on the way to the house.
Cute on the outside, not so cute on the inside.

We went to Lake Barkley State Resort Park.
So pretty. I would definitely come back there for vacation.

The view from the lodge at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.

This barn was on the road to the lake house.
I just loved it, and I made Chelsea take a picture for me. :)

At one point during the ceremony, there was a wasp on Kenny's butt.
Kenny and Kim had no clue, and we were all dying laughing.
Finally, my aunt came up and hit it, but I love this picture of Emily and Meghan laughing at the wasp.

The first kiss as man and wife.
This picture makes me laugh so much.
Meghan turns away not to look.
My uncle, the one performing the ceremony, has a cheesy grin on his face.
My grandma, the lady in purple, isn't looking either, and she looks a little upset.
It makes me laugh a lot!

Yay! They're married!

Love this of Emily and me walking out!

Uncle Johnny, the preacher man, and me.

Thanks for coming with me! Couldn't have done this without you!

Family.

My precious cousin, Jackson, and me.
He was the ring bearer, and he was SO cute.
We were doing the rehearsal, and he looks at me and says, "Do I have to hold the pillow the whole time? Because my hands are going to get really sweaty."
Love him.

The wedding party, plus my cousin JP.

Somehow, we're all related :)

I stood on his side at the wedding, with Jackson.
My mom looked at the pictures and she said, "Ashton, you were Kenny's best man!"
Never thought I'd be someone's best man in a wedding, but it was special to be up there with them! :)

All in all, a good weekend. Something I'm super thankful for, and something I know I'll never forget. So glad that the Lord blesses me with the opportunities that He does.
